Experts brainstorm on oil and gas contracting process

Stakeholders in the oil and gas industry drawn from across the globe who gathered at the just concluded five-day global business and oil & gas management training last week in Lagos, have revealed that “Advanced Commercial Contracting Administration” has impact on high-level contracting competencies that are most relevant to day-to-day running of oil and gas industry all over the world.

The brainstorming event for contract specialists and personnel involved in the contracting process in the oil and gas sector drawn from Nigeria and outside the country was put together by Global Commercial & Legal Solutions Academy based in Aberdeen, United Kingdom in partnership with Tabor Energy Solutions, Global Talent Exchange and Crystal Expertise Resources Limited.

The Academy which is equally known as Faculty, comprises eminent commercial contracting experts and senior executives from leading global corporations of oil and gas industry who have extensive international legal, commercial, project and executive leadership experience across many jurisdictions.

The module of the training which was about 60 per cent lectures and presentations, and 40 per cent syndicate sessions dwelt on how participants could get into global projects and contract execution by world class companies in oil and gas industry.

In his presentation, Dr. Mark Osa Igiehon, a member of the Faculty and an international oil and gas lawyer, said the main objective of the five-day extensive training was to achieve value for money in contract and project executions, adding that the training was also about how to complete contract execution within budget and time.

Also, Dr. Michael Makeyoh Oladun, a member of the Faculty and an expert in global oil and gas commercial contracting, and Supply Chain Management (SCM) noted that the training was about how to avoid costs overrun and possible variations and how to enhance chances for cost savings devices in projects and contracts.
