Foreigners take up vacant jobs in Nigeria — ITF

By Dennis Agbo

Industrial Training Fund,ITF, says despite the large numbers of Nigerians without jobs, survey indicated that foreigners are taking up vacant jobs in the country.

ITF said the reason was because Nigerians lacked requisite technical skill needed to drive industrial growth in the country.

Director General/Chief Executive of ITF, Sir Joseph Ari, disclosed this during the flag-off of 2017 National Industrial Skills Development Programme, NISDP, where 500 youths are undergoing training in Enugu.

Ari stated that it was with a view to addressing the capacity deficiency in the Nigeria labour market that led to ITF conceive the NISDP, noting that lack of manpower development threatens the attainment of key government policies.

He said that the NISDP has trained 84, 100 Nigerians in over 30 trades and crafts, with most of the beneficiaries gainfully employed and others as successful entrepreneurs.
