Ekweremadu lauds Jonathan on road projects

The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has commended President Goodluck Jonathan for approving the rehabilitation of Oji-Achi-Obeagu-Mmaku-Agwu Ndeaboh-Mpu-Okpanupu in Enugu and Ebonyi States Council had at yesterday meeting, approved the award of nine contracts for the construction and rehabilitation of federal roads and bridges nationwide for N65.3billion, with various completion periods.

They include the rehabilitation of Oji-Achi-Obeagu-Mmaku-Agwu Ndeaboh-Mpu-Okpanupu in Enugu and Ebonyi States for N2 billion with 24 months completion period; Lafia-Obi-Awe-Tunga Road in Nassarawa State for N4.2 billion to be completed in 24 months; and rehabilitation of Jebba Bridge in Kwara State for N1.350 billion to be completed in nine months.
Others are the rehabilitation of Pokistum-Udubo-Gamawa-Tatagum-Gamayin Road Sections II & III in Yobe and Bauchi for N2.2 billion to be completed in 30 months; rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of Bauchi-Dass-Tafawa Balewa Road in Bauchi for N4.250 billion with a completion period of 24 months; rehabilitation of Maiduguri-Dikwa-Gamboru Road Section II: Dikwa-Gamboru in Borno State for N4.5 billion with a completion period of 24 months.

Also to be rehabilitated and provided asphalt overlay are the Nana-Shira-Azare Road in Bauchi for N1.125 billion with a completion period of nine months; rehabilitation of Hadejia-Nguru Road Phase II: Kirikasamma-Nguru in Jigawa State for N31.150 billion with a completion period of 32 months; while the construction of Damasak-Dutse (Nig)-Diffa (Niger Republic) Road in Borno State for 3.5 billion with completion period of 24 months
