PORT HARCOURT:  THERE was fear in the Town area of Port Harcourt last night that a former MEND Commander and repentant militant leader, Soboma George was dead. When contacted on phone, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Suleiman Aba said he also heard the story. According to him, there were reports that he was shot dead by some suspected cultists around Nembe street in Borikiri area of the state capital.

Vanguard gathered that the former war lord was fell by bullets from a rival cult group who took him unaware. The sources said his boys were able to make away with his corpse.

Meanwhile, the state Police Commissioner said he had deployed enough men to all parts of the state to ensure peace and order.

At press time, residents of Borikiri area of the state were indoors discussing the development in hush tones.
