Nokia unveils double SIM phone in Nigeria

By Prince Osuagwu
Apparently yearning to the aspirations of its teeming customers in the West African market, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of mobile devices Nokia has unveiled a two-SIM phone in the market.

The company may have also considered several calls by several Nigerian Nokia mobile handset lovers that the company introduces the dual SIM phone into the market to break the dominance which some unidentified Chinese companies have maintained in the gray market with particularly inferior dual SIM phones

The Nokia type of dual SIM phone which it prefers to call a two-sim solution, is tagged the Nokia C1, and described by the company as one of the most affordable amongst its competitive peers across brands.
The C1 is also the first Nokia mobile phone to feature a 2-in-1 SIM solution.

Introducing the phone, General Manager of Nokia West Africa, Mr Philip De-La-Vega, said that the move showed that Nokia was a listening brand that will continually seek ways to surpass the expectations of its customers.

He noted that by simply holding down a key, people are able to switch between SIM cards. This according to Philip enables them to take advantage of reduced call rates, flexibility when traveling from one country to another, or helps with sharing a phone within a family and still use their own SIM.

For De-La-Vega, Nokia C1 owners will also benefit from a standby battery time of up to six weeks, apparently the longest ever for a Nokia mobile phone. This makes the solution especially useful in those areas where access to electricity is sometimes limited.

Other features of the phone included a standard flashlight paired with a color screen and FM radio with standard headphone jack, making the product as much about entertainment as it is about convenience.
