Akure—ONDO State government yesterday ordered the arrest of the proprietor of a private school, Prince of Peace Nursery and Primary School, Ore in Odigbo local government area of the state.
It equally ordered immediate closure of the school allegedly fallen short of standard prescribed for such institutions.
Education Commissioner Dr Pius Osunyikanmi, said the move was aimed at improving the standard of education across the state.
Dr. Osunyikanmi, who gave the order during an unscheduled visit to schools in the area, lamented the unkempt situation he met the school, saying government would not fold its arms and allow some unscrupulous elements to jeopardize the future of children in the state.
Describing the school as a shanty, he urged school owners to always follow the guidelines for the establishment of schools.
Osunyikanmi expressed the determination of government to get rid of sub-standard schools in the state.
According to him, the present Administration has zero tolerance for examination malpractice, noting that all would be done to reduce the menace.
The state government according to him would continue to give priority to the welfare of teachers.

According to him, government was set to put in place necessary measures aimed at repositioning the education sector, noting that it is only through the collaborative efforts of teachers that such could be achieved.
