Guanah, 16,000 supporters return to PDP

UGHELLI – ONE time Delta State Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Development and House of Assembly candidate of Fresh Democratic Party, FDP, for  Patani state constituency, Mr Raymus Guanah, yesterday, returned to Peoples Democratic Party, PDP with over 16,000 of his followers.

Guanah, who was a major contender in the 2011 House of Assembly election, left the PDP in expression of his dissatisfaction with the party primary election for FDP, where he ran against the Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr Basil Ganagana in the general elections. He lost the said election with 800 votes.

Addressing his followers at Patani Central Motorpark, Guanah, said as pioneer chairman of PDP in the area, he could not afford to leave the party.

He said it took him and his supporters time to take the decision to return “to the House we built and we will continue to build the party.”

He noted that  for the first time, PDP won election with less than 1000 votes, adding that their return was to further strengthen PDP in the council and the state in general.
