TWO Nigeria’s movies, ‘76’ and  93 Days, have been nominated in eleven categories each for the 2017 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards,AMVCAs which is scheduled to hold in March, next year.

Organizers unveiled the  nominees , Wednesday night  at the Intercontinental Hotel, Lagos with the two  movies, leading the others with nominations in eleven  categories. The unveiling ceremony, anchored by the duo of actress Mtichelle Dede and Kenyan actor and TV host, Fareed Khimani was broadcast live on all African Magic channels and had in attendance A-list actors and actresses, including Ramsey Nouah, Chacha Eke, Juliet Ibrahim,Lancelot Imasuen, Andy Amenechi among others.

Directed by Izu Ojukwu ’76, which debuted at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival,TIFF, recounts the story of the aborted military coup of 1976, while “93 Days” focuses on  how Nigeria courageously contained the Ebola pandemic resulting in the prevention of a national disaster.

Other Nigerian films nominated for the awards include, AY’s “A Trip to Jamaica” which had four nominations, “Ghana Must Go” had six nomination, “Wives on Strike”(2 nominations), Funke Akindele’s “Jenifa’s Dairy” (2 nominations) and Lancelot Imasuen’s “Beyond your Sight: The Police Story.” Kunle Afolayan’s “CEO” got one nomination.

The AMVCAs were created to celebrate the contribution of African film makers, actors and actress  in the success of the continent’s film and television industry.
