WARRI—GOVERNOR Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Thursday, spoke of effort by his administration to get relevant agencies to dredge the Warri and Koko ports in Warri South and North, respectively.

Governor Okowa, at two separate town hall meetings in Warri and Koko, said the cost of dredging the ports was huge, adding that his administration was exploring all opportunities to see what could be done for the ports to function optimally.

He said his administration was committed to delivery on his campaign promises, adding that he was grateful for the support enjoyed by his administration in the two Warri local government areas.

According to Okowa, “the cost of dredging the ports is alarming, but we are exploring different opportunities for the ports to be functional.

“The town hall meetings provided me an opportu-nity to tell the people what my administration is doing and also get reactions from the people about the achievements of the administration and their expectations.”

Okowa enjoined people of the state to key into the compulsory health insurance scheme, adding that it will enable them enjoy health facilities in the state.

Chairman of Warri South council, Mr. Michael Tidi, commended the governor for the meeting and for his laudable projects in Ode Itsekiri, adding that they were grateful for “the monumental Ode-Itsekiri internal road network.”
