Warri—Residents of Warri and environs in Delta State have been urged  to support a de- flooding committee set up by the state government to redress challenges of flood in the area and other parts of the state.

Chairman, Warri South Local Government Area of the state, Dr Michael Tidi, made the appeal yesterday in Warri shortly after the committee paid him a courtesy visit.

He enjoined landlords to give the committee maximum cooperation, stressing the need to redress the problem of perennial flood in the area and the state.

“I enjoin residents of Warri and other parts of Warri South council to cooperate with the committee set up by the state government to study the extent of flooding in Effurun /Warri and environs.

“The committee which has Delta State Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye, as chairman, state Commissioner for Environment, Chief John Nani as member and some prominent persons in Warri South as members, is also saddled with the responsibilities of identifying the causes of the flood as well as its natural drainage routes and linkages,” he said.
