We demanded N100m but later settled at N2m, Kano kidnapper says

The Nigerian Police in Kano has arrested a kidnap suspect that hails from Makadi Village, Garko Local Government Area of the state, who is also a neighbour of the victim.

This was revealed to newsmen in Kano by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Abdullahi Haruna on Thursday.

He explained that the victim was contacted by one Isah Musa, a thirty year old man, through telephone conversation and demanded him to pay the sum of N100m or one of his children be kidnapped.

Subsequently, the said victim bargained on the said amount and later on settled at N2m. He then contacted the police who swiftly swung into action.

“Upon receipt of the complaint, the command’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Abubakar Zubairu raised and instructed a team of detectives led by SP Aliyu Muhammad Auwal, Officer in Charge of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad to trace and arrest the culprit.

“The team swiftly swung into action, following credible intelligence and sustained follow-up, traced and arrested the suspect, one Isah Musa, a 30 years old male, a neighbour and of the same address as the complainant.

On preliminary investigation, the suspect disclosed that the victim is his neighbour and a friend of his father. He conspired with his friend who lives far outside the state to be communicating on his behalf.

“They demanded the sum of N100m but later settled at N2m” the PPRO said.

Meanwhile, investigation is still going on and the case will be charged to court upon completion.
