The UEFA Champions League is the most prestigious club football competition in the world, with almost all professional football players nursing the ambition of one day lifting its much coveted trophy.

For some players, they have been fortunate to lay their hands on the Champions League trophy multiple times, etching their names in the history books of the world’s most prestigious club football competition.

On Saturday, June 1 at Wembley, the quartet of Dani Carvajal, Toni Kroos, Nacho and Luka Modric took their tally of Champions League titles to six, the highest won by any player, as they led Real Madrid to a 2-0 victory against Borussia Dortmund, and the Los Blancos’ 15th Champions League crown.

They are followed closely by former teammates Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Marcelo who are on five each.

Eleven players have won the Champions League four times, among them Lionel Messi and Xavi Hernandez, although neither participated in the 2006 final for Barcelona. Andres Iniesta contributed to all four of Barcelona’s victories. Gerard Pique, while not playing in the final for Manchester United in 2008, later triumphed in three finals after rejoining Barcelona.
