Eid: Benue CP orders tight security, deploys to mosques, prayer groups, others

The Benue State Police Commissioner, Mr. Hassan Yabanet has ordered the deployment of police personnel to all prayer grounds and mosques during the Eid celebration to avert any security breach in the state.

He also directed the deployment of police personnel to all parts of the State and entry points as part of measures to ensure a hitch free Eid-el-Kabir celebration in the state.

The Command in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Superintendent, SP, Catherine Anene on behalf of the Commissioner, ordered Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders to give effect to the directive.

The statement noted that “by this order, all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, DPOs, and Tactical Commanders are warned to emplace adequate security measures  within their Areas of responsibility and ensure strict supervision during the festive period.

“The Commissioner of Police specified that all mosques or prayer grounds, event centres as well as entry and exit routes in Benue state must be manned by officers.

“Parents, guidance, religious and traditional rulers are advised to warn their children/wards/subjects to be law abiding as the command will not tolerate any act that is capable of causing breach of peace during this period.

“He enjoins members of the public to  cooperate with the Police and other Security Agencies in the State to ensure a crime free celebrations.

“While felicitating with the Muslim community, the Commissioner of Police assures them of commitment to provide adequate security of lives and property during the Salah celebration.”
