Owerri – The Igbo-Biafra Nationalists, IBN, on Wednesday said they believe in the use of any legitimate means to defend their people.

Mazi Uche Mefor, leader of the group, spoke in a statement to newsmen about the violation of human rights in the South East region.

He said among other things that; “The Igbo-Biafra Nationalists and the Indigenous People of the Igbo Nation for Self-Determination hereby issue a stern warning to the Nigerian rogue security forces engaged in perpetuating heinous criminal atrocities and various human rights violations in the South-East, the Igboland against the innocent civilian population. The Igbo-Biafra Nationalists and the Indigenous People of the Igbo Nation for Self-Determination are committed to supporting the resistance against these forces in legitimate self-defence by any means necessary, including the deployment of permissible unconventional strategies.

“Yes, we firmly uphold the principles of democracy and human rights, yet we will not hesitate to support the legitimate defence of our innocent civilian population through any means deemed legitimately necessary. This includes the use of unconventional methods permissible under international law when our people are unjustly targeted.”

“In the same vein, we must not fail to expose the criminal and rogue elements commiting all manner of atrocities, slaughtering innocent Igbo Biafran sons and daughters in cold blood and in peace time under the pretence and guise for fighting for Biafra. Our resolve is unyielding, and our commitment to safeguarding our community against unlawful aggression is unwavering,”IBN said.
