There’s no hiding place anymore for deceivers in the body of Christ as Adenike Odubawo unmasks them in her thought-provoking movie, ” Ajaga:The Joke”. The movie is due to premiere in cinemas in Nigeria and Ghana on September 6.

‘Ajaga: The Joke’ is a faith-based movie,which lifts the veil on the shocking truths hidden beneath the surface of modern-day church leadership, revealing a web of manipulation, abuse and exploitation.

The movie, which was screened to the press during the week in Lagos, explores the themes of deceit, heartbreak, and abuse surrounding the church of God.

Adenike, who doubles as the producer, played the lead character as the wife of a pastor (Femi Jacobs), who was heartbroken after discovering that her husband was sleeping with their two adopted daughters. He must be made to take responsibility for his actions.

According to her, the movie was produced not only to expose the rot happening behind the pulpit, but also, to ensure that any erring spiritual father is made to face the consequences of his action.

Directed by Remi Ibinola, “Ajaga: The Joke” is an expository movie, which delves into the dark realities of power and influence. shedding light on the pervasive issue of child abuse, and the ways in which some advocate of sainthood exploit women and children for their personal gains.

Through its unflinching narrative, the movie challenges viewers to confront this uncomfortable truth and sparks a necessary conversation about the role of faith in our society.

Adenike, who made her first major role debut in the movie said she was inspired by God to write the story of the movie.

On why she produced the movie, Adenike said : “The best time to have told this story was two decades ago. I decided to tell it now because no one has ever told this very version. We have heard stories about abuse of power, position and child molestation. Most of the time, I don’t get my desired responses. I want to see these culprits suffer the consequences of their actions. But most times, they never get to pay for their sins, ‘ Adenike said. Interestingly, the movie has started generating buzz among critics and audiences alike, with many praising its bold storytelling and unflinching examination of difficult themes.
