With the detailed rebuttal of corrupt allegations by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, Mayor of Urhoboland, an ex-militant leader, Eshanekpe Israel a.k.a Akpodoro, has said the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the 2023 Presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar should have conducted his investigation thoroughly before making such weighty allegations against President Bola Tinubu, the NNPCL and Oando.

He described his comments as unbecoming of one who was once the Vice President of Nigeria.

In a statement sent to Vanguard, the Mayor said, “but for the dearth of good conscience, Abubakar has no moral rectitude to attack any government in Nigeria” going by the poor record of the PDP administration under him and ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Akpodoro maintained, “Nigerians haven’t forgotten the botched sale of Nigerian assets under the Bureau of Public Enterprises, BPE, that Atiku Abubakar supervised.

Alluding to his past records under President Olusegun Obasanjo, the former agitator said, “When Atiku Abubakar told Nigerians during electioneering campaign he would sell off the NNPCL and other national assets, if voted into power, Nigerians quickly rejected him at the 2023 polls.

“So, Nigerians are not surprised at his attitudes towards the present leadership. He wants to rule at all cost, and we, the electorates, keep rejecting him each time his name was found on the ballot. If he dares to come out again in 2027, we will do the same.

He further said, “The present administration is making bold decisions to bring long-term solutions to Nigeria’s persistent economic challenges, especially cushioning the effects of subsidy removal, which the PDP government could not do for 16 years. It’s implementing transformative policies while ensuring several relief measures, primarily targeting the youths and other Nigerians.

“The economy was battered by successive PDP administrations, which plunged our country into economic woes that’s being revived by the FG. Nigerians should just go and read that book written by General Obasanjo, ‘Under My Watch,’ to know more about the personality called Atiku Abubakar,” the Mayor stated.
