The wanton looting and destruction by hoodlums who disguised as protesters in Kano, Kaduna and other states, revealed that some enemies of the Nigerian state are manipulating the youths to cause anarchy, a youth leader, Alhaji Gambo Ibrahim Gujungu has said.

Gujungu who was an aspirant for the House of Representatives, said on Wednesday that “since the protest has no clear and defined leadership in the North, we earlier envisaged it would be hijacked by those with ulterior motives.”

According to him, “we have been vindicated as wanton looting and destruction by hoodlums who disguised as protesters, revealed some enemies of the Nigerian state are manipulating the youths to cause anarchy.”

“The waving of the Russian flag by underage children who may not even know the legal implication of what they were doing, and the call for the military to intervene, had exposed the sponsors of the protest and we welcome the arrests made so far.”

“We commend the Kaduna State Government for imposing a 24-hour curfew when the rampaging youths exceeded limits and attacked commercial banks, dared the security operatives before soldiers were deployed.”

“We call on parents to live up to their responsibility of taking good care of their children, who were exploited for a pittance to work against constituted authorities.”

“While we condole with those who lost their loved ones during the protest, especially innocent citizens who were victims of stray bullet, it is our prayer that complete normalcy, will ultimately be restored in Kaduna, Zaria and other parts of the country,” he said.
