Top 10 players who have the potential to breakout this season

By Enitan Abdultawab

Every season seems to bring a breakthrough player, and recently we’ve seen youngsters like Pedri, Alejandro Garnacho, and Joao Neves make their mark, becoming the pride of their clubs with a series of brilliant performances.

Now, it’s a new season across Europe. Let’s have a look at the top 10 youngsters who could have a breakout season in 2024/25.

Julien Duraville (18) – Borussia Dortmund

A fan of PSG’s Ousmane Dembele, Duranville is an electric winger who is on the path of perfecting the act of dribbling. The Belgian international, who plays in the U21 team, featured for Borussia Dortmund in a match against Mainz two seasons ago but has not enjoyed full fitness since then.

However, Duranville is hale and hearty now and looks ready to break out if given the chance in the first team.

Marc Casado (20) – Barcelona

Marc Casado has made a few appearances for FC Barcelona over the past two years and was once likened to the legendary Sergio Busquets in the DM/CM role. He shone for the Spanish team in the summer’s pre-season and started the first game at Valencia.

However, head coach Hansi Flick chose fellow Marc Benal ahead of him in the next two matches. But an ACL injury to Marc Bernal in their recent away win at Rayo Vallecano could handle Marc Casado in the DM role this season.

Justin Diehl (19) – Stuttgart

German club Cologne did not look ready for another German top-tier football this season and were thus relegated. The bright side, however, was the exciting Justin Diehl, who was a constant attacking threat for Cologne.

Now at Stuttgart, Diehl, who plays for Germany U19 national team, looks ready to bag goals for Stuttgart this season.

Oscar Bobb (21) – Manchester City

When the past of Phil Foden is examined, one would agree that he truly deserves the flowers he is getting. Just like how Phil Foden cemented a place in Guardiola’s XI, this season might be that of Oscar Bobb.

Even if he has already established himself because of his brilliant cameos, Bobb could finally be an important player in Manchester City’s set-up.

Lewis Hall (19) – Newcastle United

Finally, Lewis Hall has sealed a permanent move to Newcastle from Chelsea after his loan spell there. Last season, Lewis Hall impressed whenever he was handed an opportunity but still could not seal a place in the starting XI.

However, things might change this time around as he started all of Newcastle’s pre-season matches as a left-back.

Arijon Ibrahimovic (18) – Bayern Munchen

Ibrahimovic will not be leaving on loan from Bayern Munich this summer, the club has confirmed. This gives the youngster the opportunity to have a breakout season with Vincent Kompany being a lover of the young attacker.

With Michael Olise and Nestroy Irakunda as options on the flanks, Ibrahimovic will have a lot to prove.

Pau Victor (22) – Barcelona

Pau Victor could be Barcelona’s breakout season after he sealed a permanent move to the Blaugranes from Girona.

The Spaniard joined the youth set-up of Girona at a very tender age but found himself in the Barcelona team B, where he scored 20 goals. He also scored three goals in Barcelona’s pre-season tour, including one against a brace against Real Madrid.

Yakuba Minteh (18) – Brighton and Hove Albion

Now at Brighton, Newcastle loaned Minteh to German side Feyenoord last season, where he scored 10 goals and further assisted 6 goals. The Gambian was one of the brightest stars in the Dutch league and recorded some amazing stats.

Well, Minteh has featured for Brighton twice this season already, the most recent being a decent display against Manchester United last week.

Endrick (18) – Real Madrid

Capable of playing anywhere in the attacking department, it might finally be a season for Real Madrid’s new boy, Endrick.

The Brazilian kid joined from Palmeiras, where he scored 18 goals in 66 appearances. Just last week, Endrick came on for Real Madrid and scored a goal in their 3-0 win against Real Valladolid.
