The Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, has successfully rescued four victims from kidnappers and arrested two notorious kingpins responsible for multiple abductions in the state.

According to Chief Adetunji Adeleye, Commander of Amotekun, the suspects were arrested along the Owo/Ose highway, a notorious route known for kidnappings.

Adeleye personally led the operatives, collaborating with local hunters, to apprehend the suspects and rescue the victims.

The arrested suspects have been terrorizing farmers and commuters plying the Elegbeka/Ifon highway and had collected a ransom of ₦1.2 million from kidnapped victims in August.

They engaged Amotekun operatives in a gun battle before being arrested.

Key Highlights of the Operation:

Identification of Suspects: The rescued victims identified the suspects as responsible for previous abductions in the area.

Tactics Used by Kidnappers: The kidnappers blocked a portion of the road with a vehicle, forcing commuters to slow down and making them vulnerable to ambush.

Ransom Demands: The suspects demanded ₦20 million but were apprehended before payment.

Community Reaction: Community leaders applauded Amotekun’s swift action, stating it restored confidence in local security.

Adeleye assured that the rescued victims are receiving medical attention and psychological support, while the arrested kidnappers will face legal proceedings.

“We want every criminal in Ondo State to know—there is no safe haven for you here. We will find you, and justice will be served.”
