The ex-British and Commonwealth boxing champion, Peter Oboh, has sympathised with Anthony Joshua on his 5th round TKO in the hands of Daniel Dubois, but said it was time the AJ left boxing.

Recall that Daniel Dubois was too strong and good for Anthony Joshua, winning all five rounds and knocking down Joshua in four of them to retain the IBF world heavyweight title.

The 27-year-old dominated the opening stages of the bout, dropping the two-time former unified heavyweight champion multiple times.

Reacting, Peter Oboh, who was a renowned boxer in his time, said he thought Joshua would do the job at round 5.

His words: “To be realistic, I thought Jushua would have stopped Tripple D in round 5 or 9. But it went the other way.

“Now, I think Joshua should call it a day. It seems the boxing that Joshua loves so much has left him. Despite the defeat, Joshua will be remembered as a boxing hero.

“I see him the same way too.”

Peter Oboh also acknowledged Dubois’ abilities.

He said: “Nevertheless, I am using this opportunity to congratulate the champ, Daniel Dubois, for his fantastic victory against  Joshua. Congratulations ones again.

“My advice to active fighters is to learn to leave the fighting sport before the sports leaves you.”
