As Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Maulud, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on leaders to address pressing challenges facing the country, including insecurity and economic hardship.

In a statement on Monday, CAN President Archbishop Daniel Okoh emphasized the need for policies promoting justice and welfare for all Nigerians. He highlighted Nigeria’s escalating insecurity, economic stagnation, and social division, calling for urgent action.

Okoh stressed the importance of harnessing Nigeria’s cultural diversity to strengthen unity and encouraged religious leaders to promote tolerance and peaceful coexistence among their followers.

“Nigeria’s rich cultural and religious diversity is a strength, but we must acknowledge the challenges threatening our unity,” Okoh said. “In these trying times, we must stand together in solidarity, transcending religious and ethnic barriers.”

He urged religious leaders to promote messages of tolerance and coexistence, encouraging communities to engage in acts of kindness and support for one another, particularly for those who are less fortunate.

Okoh called on leaders to prioritize policies alleviating the suffering of the people and ensuring justice and equity for all. He emphasized that good governance and transparent leadership are essential to restoring hope and confidence in Nigeria’s future.

“May the teachings of the Prophet inspire our people to pursue peace and justice, and may God bless Nigeria with prosperity and unity,” Okoh said.
