Fan milk, Danone commission dairy product line in Ibadan

Fan Milk Plc has unveiled its newly completed state-of-the-art ambient dairy product line in Ibadan, Oyo State which will produce the FanYogo Yoghurt Drink, a tasty, nutritious and creamy drink based on extensive science, research and innovation.

Speaking at the occasion, Véronique Penchienati-Bosetta, Deputy CEO of Danone, said: “We are incredibly proud to launch this advanced yoghurt production line at Fan Milk Plc. This investment reaffirms Danone’s long-term commitment to the African market and our belief in the potential for growth in the dairy sector. The new line will not only enhance our production capacity but also ensure that we continue to provide consumers with nutritious and high-quality products that they can trust.”

On his part Governor Oluwaseyi Makinde of Oyo State, represented by the Deputy Governor, Adebayo Lawal, expressed his enthusiasm at the commissioning event, stating: “It is a great honour to witness the inauguration of Fan Milk Plc’s state-of-the-art ambient dairy product line here in Ibadan, where we have been the host for the past 63 years.

“This facility not only represents a significant milestone in the advancement of our local dairy industry, but also underscores the commitment of Fan Milk Plc and Danone to the socio-economic development of Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole. The investment in this cutting-edge technology will create numerous job opportunities, stimulate our local economy, and enhance the quality of dairy products available to our citizens. We are proud to support such initiatives that drive growth and innovation in our state.”

Also speaking, Kayode Adebiyi, Managing Director of Fan Milk Plc, said:  “This is a landmark achievement for Fan Milk Plc. The new yoghurt production line will significantly boost our ability to innovate and deliver products that meet the highest global standards. A big thank you to the team that has worked tirelessly to ensure this project goes live and to our teeming partners & consumers..

Also reiterating the importance of the Nigerian market to Danone and the company’s commitment to supporting growth and development of Nigeria, Mr. Christian Stammkoetter, President, Danone Africa, Middle East and Asia Zone, affirmed Danone’s strong vision to grow in Nigeria which facilitated such significant investment.

The new yoghurt line is equipped with the latest technology, ensuring efficient and sustainable production processes.

The event was graced by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who said: “Fan Milk Plc has long been a household name in Nigeria, renowned for its dedication to producing high-quality dairy products that have nourished generations of Nigerians. This facility stands as a testament to the company’s unwavering commitment to quality, growth, and the well-being of its consumers.

“The investment made by Danone in creating this facility underscores the critical importance of the manufacturing sector to our national economy. It creates jobs, stimulates local economies, and contributes significantly to the country’s GDP. More importantly, it showcases the potential that lies within Nigeria to not only meet local demand, but also to compete on a global scale.”

Special guests of honour at the event included members of Oyo State Executive Council, French Counsul General, Mr. Laurent Favier, representing the French Ambassador, the delegation of the European Union in Nigeria represented by Massimo de Luca, Aisha Rimi, the CEO, Nigeria Investment Promotion Council among other invited dignitaries.

The commissioning of this new line is a testament to Fan Milk Plc’s mission to bring health through food to as many people as possible. With this enhancement, the Company is poised to introduce new and exciting yoghurt variants that cater to the evolving tastes and preferences of our diverse consumer base.
