FLOW Wellness Picnic empowers women through health, community

On September 28, 2024, FLOW (For the Love of Women) hosted its successful Flow Wellness Picnic at The Nest Pre-School, Jericho, Ibadan. Co-founded by Chioma Fakorede and Ronke Giwa-Onafuwa, FLOW is a movement dedicated to empowering and celebrating women through wellness, education, and community building.

This year’s wellness-themed event brought together over 60 women from diverse backgrounds, all eager to engage in a day of mindfulness, health education, and meaningful connections. The event began with a calming meditation session, followed by an energetic Zumba session by Bam-T Dance Studio that got everyone on their feet. Attendees also participated in an enlightening health talk on fibroids and hormonal imbalances facilitated by Dr. Akinlolu, an expert in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Beyond these core activities, the event featured fun-filled games and interactive group exercises designed to foster teamwork, laughter, and camaraderie among the participants. To top it off, Chef Hook Catering provided healthy meals, enjoyed during a casual conversation segment that allowed attendees to network and share their experiences.

The day concluded with closing remarks and a prize-giving ceremony, leaving the women with a renewed sense of purpose and wellness.

Sponsors such as Redcross, Seven-Up Bottling Company, Emerald Digital Agency, MTN, BlackNILE, The Nest Pre-School, Casa De Noir, Kokari Coconuts, So Fresh, Natures Treats, Coree, BigKiks Visuals, and Hello Ibadan all played a key role in the success of the event.

Reflecting on the event, Ronke Giwa-Onafuwa said, “FLOW is a space where women can gather, support one another, and be intentional about their wellness. Today, we came together to care for our minds and bodies, and I believe these moments strengthen our collective power as women.”

Chioma Fakorede added, “This is just the beginning. We want to create more spaces like this for women to engage, learn, and network so that together, we can inspire change in our communities.”

With plans for future events already underway, the Flow Wellness Picnic has set a strong precedent for empowering women through holistic health and community support.
