Imo Govt unveils plans for 64th independence anniversary

Owerri – The Imo government on Friday unveiled its plans to mark this year’s Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary.

The state Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mr Declan Emelumba disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri.

The Commissioner said part of the activities would include a state-wide address by the governor, Hope Uzodimma, to the Imo people on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024.

According to the commissioner, “We’re rolling out the drums in celebration of the 64th Independence anniversary of Nigeria. As part of activities marking the celebration, Jumaat prayers will hold today, Friday, at the central mosque, Owerri.”

“On Sunday, September 29, a special mass will be celebrated at the Assumpta cathedral, Owerri, to be presided over by the Archbishop of Owerri Catholic archdiocese, Most Rev. Dr Lucius Ugorji.

“On Tuesday, the celebration proper will take place at the Ndubuisi Kanu square, with military parade, a march-past by various groups and eventually, the Governor’s address “, he said.
