The Ikeja Dynamic Lions Club, under Lions Clubs International, Lagos, has stressed the need for stakeholders’ collaboration in the educational sector to enhance quality learning among pupils, particularly with the economic hardship in Nigeria.

President, Ikeja Dynamic Lions Club, District 404 B2 Nigeria, Lion Adeola Boluogun, made the call on Thursday, while distributing educational materials to pupils of St. Peters Anglican Primary School, and Adeniyi Jones Primary School, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja. Lagos State.

The educational materials distributed include: Exercise books, text books, pens, pencils, mathematical sets, stationary materials, among others.

Boluogun said the club had earlier distributed free school uniforms, bags to the government-owned primary schools in the area.

To ease financial burdens and promote education, Balogun said, Lion Club, as a compassionate group understands parents’ struggles at the present time and has initiated the project, tagged: “September Activity; Back to School Project,” in commemoration of the International Literacy Day.

International Literacy day is celebrated on September 8, of every year. The aim is to raise awareness and concern for literacy problems that exist within our local communities as well as globally.

According to Boluogun; “As we know, it’s a back -to -school season and in a bid to give back to society, Ikeja Dynamic Lions Club, under Lions Clubs decided to distribute educational materials to pupils of St. Anglican and Adeniyi Jones Primary Schools.

“It’s about serving humanity. As a team, we are a club where we try to contribute to each other.

“We contribute to the club, and even like that, we use what we contribute to help other people. Like, for instance, this month, it’s for the children.

“That’s good for the children. Out of our own contribution, out of our own sweat, resources, we feel that we should serve humanity, like, you know, helping others.

“The main reason why this club is in existence is service to humanity. That’s why our motto is service to persons and creating a lasting impact.

“As a club, our major aim is to support the less privileged. It’s a continuous thing.

“We chose public schools because the parents of these children may not be all that well to do. They may be lacking in some things.

“We want the pupils to know that they are the same as every child in Lagos and they are not alone.

“We are using this medium to call on other civil societies, organization and well to do individuals to support so we can reach out to more people and give them more materials. Goverment can not do it alone and parents need help.”

One of the pupils who spoke to Vanguard, Grace Alonge, expressed her appreciation to Lions Club Ikeja Dynamic for the gifts.

According to her, ” This will go along way in assisting us with our studies. We appreciate the writing materials.

“I pray God will continue to bless them.”
