Gov El-Rufai visits Sanusi Lamido in Nasarawa

KANO — Amid controversy that trailed the Kano Emirship, former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, on Wednesday said the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano is one of the most important events in his life.

The former governor made the remark in Kano at the Arewa Tech Fest, an event that gathered political and technology leaders to discuss advancements in Northern Nigeria.

The Fest was attended by key figures, including the Governors of Kano, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, Katsina, Dr. Dikko Umar Radda and Zamfara, Dr. Dauda Lawal.

El-Rufai who expressed his deep appreciation, said the reinstatement of Emir Sanusi, for him personally was most important, highlighting the significance of the decision.

“The reinstatement of his highness is one of the most important events in my life and I want to congratulate you once again.

“The reinstatement marks a moment of vindication and renewal for Northern Nigeria’s traditional leadership,” he said.

Vanguard reported that Sanusi was dethroned in 2020 by the immediate past governor, Abdullahi Ganduje under controversial circumstances.

Recall that the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP led govt of Governor Yusuf upon assumption of the mantle of leadership reinstated Sanusi as the 16th Emir and dethroned the 15th Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero and a development which is currently pending before the court of law.
