The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has been ranked as one of the top government agencies for its compliance and consistency with laid down procedures for efficient public service delivery.

This information was released by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) Secretariat in their 2024 Half Year Transparency and Efficiency Compliant Report for January 2024 to June 2024.

SON came second with 78.2%, among twenty (20) Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The Efficiency Compliance Ranking evaluates the efforts of MDAs in providing services in a timely, cost-efficient, and customer-oriented manner.

The metric evaluates MDAs based on their adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs), cost management, procedural efficiency, One Government directive, and instances of Default Approval as provided in the Business Facilitation Act 2022.

According to a statement signed by Director, Public Relations, SON, Mrs. Foluso Bolaji, the compliance report stated: “Despite bureaucratic challenges and issues with consequence management persisting, for the January 2024 to June 2024 half-year reporting period, the top three performers are the Nigerian Content Development Management Board (NCDMB) at 80.1%, Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) at 78.2%, and the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) at 74.8%.”

The report further noted, “There has been significant improvement in the overall rankings, with over 60% of MDAs now scoring above average, compared to the previous report where only 30% achieved above-average scores”.

Bolaji added that the Director General and Chief Executive, SON, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, reiterated the organisation’s commitment to rendering services efficiently for the overall good of the Country.
