The finest of comedy and music talents drawn from Edo and Lagos States would be on showcase when MC Edopikin holds his Edo In Eko show on September 29th at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

“Edo In Eko” promises to be a rich interplay of culture, colours and entertainment highlighting the historical relationship between the two major talent hubs from the South West and South South of Nigeria. The show has been attracting the backing of corporate and individual entities such as Nigerian Breweries brands, AY Homes, Great by Exchange and Landsmith Construction.

According to the host of the show, some of the entertainers confirmed to serenade audience at the show include Wande Coal, Skales, Influence Akaba, De Stalker, Acapella, Akpororo, Koboko Master, MC Casino, Sarkin Daria, MC Yanis, Magneto, MC Daset, Young Chief as well as several upcoming talents from Edo State.

While giving more insights about the show, MC Edopikin whose real name is Gbadamosi Agbonjor Jonathan underscored the importance of leveraging entertainment as a formidable tool to drive the propagation of culture.

He revealed, “The show is aimed at promoting cultural integration between the Edo and Eko talents because there’s a strong historical background between the two cultures. “Edo in Eko” also aims to promote the rich, strong and unflinching Edo culture that we are proud of as it showcases young and emerging talents and their crafts. I want to do my best with my craft to push Edo State to the world.”

Speaking more about the show, he explains, “I believe the likes of Rema, Shallipopi, Sir Victor Uwaifo and so many legends have taken the Edo brand to the world and have graced the biggest stages, so I believe I can also do it in comedy. It’s going to be a gathering of all the prominent ‘Edolites’ and friends of the Edo people such as business and diplomatic communities among others. Generally, everyone that loves the Edo people and brand. It’s going to be a yearly gathering. The key driving force behind this event is the love I have for my people, our culture and the kingdom.

The Edo people have been known for inter-cultural migration from time immemorial making impact in other climes. Similarly, I want to spread the culture to other states and regions for posterity.”

MC Edopikin has successfully hosted comedy shows such as ‘MC Edopikin’ and ‘Comedy Bloodline’ over a period of eight years across cities within Nigeria and abroad. Some of them include Abuja, Manchester, Milton Keynes, London, Birmingham, Newcastle, Turkey, Paris and Marseille. His extensive itinerary has taken him to other countries like Ghana and Germany amongst others.
