The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Lagos State Area Unit has cautioned students to avoid all forms of crimes as schools across the state resume for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The Amir (President) of MSSN Lagos, Kamoldeen Abiona, in a statement on Thursday, urged students to approach the session with focus and hard work.

The MSSN leader also advised students to avoid engaging in vices such as bullying, cultism, assaults, and sexual abuse, noting that such activities harm not only individuals but the entire school community. “Education is the foundation of a bright future, and students must prioritise their studies and shun all negative influences that hinder their growth,” Abiona stated.

Meanwhile, MSSNLagos urged stakeholders to demonstrate a pivotal role in shaping the younger generation as it cautioned against any form of discrimination, particularly the victimisation of students wearing the hijab.

The Muslim Students’ body called on schools to respect students’ rights, including their choice to wear the hijab, as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution.

In light of the country’s current economic challenges, Abiona encouraged the government, parents and guardians to continue investing in their children’s education.

While acknowledging the financial strain on many families, Abiona stressed the need to make education a top priority. “Despite the economic difficulties, the future of our children depends on the quality of education they receive. We urge all parents to keep their children in school and support their academic journey.”

MSSN Lagos, however, reaffirmed its commitment to the academic and moral development of students in Lagos State, pledging continued support for initiatives that enhance the quality of education across the state.
