Bill to establish Fed Varsity of Livestock, Agric-Tech in Taraba passes first reading in Senate

A Bill to establish the Federal University of Livestock, Agricultural Technology and Entrepreneurship Developments in Mutum-Biyu, Taraba has scaled through first reading in the Senate.

The Bill sponsored by Senator Manu Haruna of Taraba Central Senatorial District was one of the first set of Bills treated by the Senate immediately after the resumption from the long recess last Tuesday.

Entitled: Federal University of Livestock, Agricultural Technology and Entrepreneurship Development, Mutum-Biyu (Establishment) Bill, 2024 is expected to help galvanise food security in Nigeria.

If eventually passed into law, the university aims to provide high-quality education, research, practical skills in Livestock agriculture and agricultural technology.

It will foster innovation and entrepreneurship to enhance Nigeria’s agricultural sector, contributing to food security, economic growth and rural development.

The university will offer diplomas, undergraduate and post graduate degrees collaborating with local and International institutions to address challenges and agricultural entrepreneurship.

By empowering students and stakeholders, the university will play a crucial role in advancing sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship benefitting the economy and society.
