Don Lamba’s ‘whistling’ to revolutionise Nigerian music scene

Don Lamba’s ‘whistling’ to revolutionise Nigerian music scene

Nigerian music continues to evolve, and Don Lamba is the latest artiste to push the boundaries with his unique sound. Known for his infectious whistling, Don Lamba is making waves with his debut track, “Afro-Whistle.”

Born Onyekachukwu Mba, Don Lamba has always been a fan of whistling. He decided to incorporate it into his music, creating a refreshing twist on the fusion of Highlife and Afrobeats. The track features Oba Naija and Ajura.

“I’ve always been the guy who whistles,” he says. “When I started working on ‘Afro-Whistle,’ I wanted to make that part of my signature sound. It’s something different and I knew it’d catch people’s attention.”

Beyond music, he is also a co-founder of CSE Records with his brother KC Wise. The label is committed to providing a platform for rising stars, including Mofizzay and 3plebeatz. Don Lamba’s dedication to supporting other artists sets him apart in an industry often focused on individual success.

“We’re not just creating music; we’re creating opportunities,” he insists. “CSE is about giving young artistes a platform to show the world what they can do.”

Inspired by legends like Don Jazzy, Mr. Eazi and Olamide, Don Lamba aims to leave a lasting impact on the Nigerian music scene.

“Olamide’s career is a blueprint for me,” he admits. “He has paved the way for so many artistes; Adekunle Gold, Young John, Lil Kesh, Fireboy, Asake. That’s the type of legacy I want to leave behind.”

He is currently preparing to release a two-track EP, featuring “Afro-Whistle” and another track titled “The Gods.” “The Gods” showcases a more introspective side of Don Lamba, with hard-hitting Afrobeat rhythms and thought-provoking lyrics.
