Eko Hotels champions environmental sustainability at annual climate Gala

Green Fingers Wildlife Conservation, in partnership with Eko Hotels and Suites, held its inaugural Climate Gala to create awareness of pressing environmental issues and promote sustainable practices.

The gala brought together a diverse assembly of attendees, primarily composed of renowned environmentalists, eager secondary school students, and select government officials. This carefully curated group of participants underscored the event’s dual focus on expert-led initiatives and youth engagement in environmental conservation. The highlight of the evening was the innovative “Trash Fashion Show,” where designers showcased stunning gowns crafted entirely from recycled materials, demonstrating the potential of upcycling in the fashion industry.

Dr. Iyadunni Gbadebo, Director of Sales and Marketing for Eko Hotels and Suites, spoke about the new Eko Green Initiative and the importance of the hotel’s management in environmental sustainability. She said, “At Eko Hotels, we believe the hospitality industry has a unique opportunity—and responsibility—to lead the charge in sustainable practices. For us at Eko Hotels, our commitment to the environment is not just a policy; it’s a passion that drives every decision we make.”

Additionally, Dr Gbadebo stated, “We’re establishing a dedicated fund in partnership with Green Fingers to protect endangered species and their habitats.”

The gala also featured a highly educative panel conversation with leading environmentalists who shared practical insights on improving advocacy for the environment and leveraging collaborations to achieve sustainable impact.

In his closing remarks, the founder of Green Fingers Wildlife Conservation thanked Eko Hotels for their support and noted that attendees will leave the event with a renewed sense of purpose. He also encouraged his team members and every attendee to keep fighting to preserve the environment and protect endangered species.
