Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA, has concluded extensive road maintenance along the Lagos-Badagry-Seme Border Dual Carriageway, saying it will improve road safety and ease transportation in Lagos State.

The project, spanning between Iyana Shashi, Customs, and Morogbo, was completed by direct labour under the Lagos II West field office.

According to the agency, the maintenance work included the patching of potholes, desilting of drains, repair and recovery of severely damaged sections of the road and embankment to ensure structural stability.

It also said the repairs were essential to maintain the structural integrity of the road, serving as a crucial route connecting Lagos to the Seme border and facilitating both local and international trade.

Speaking on the development in a statement, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of FERMA, Engr Chukwuemeka Agbasi, said: “Our commitment to maintaining and improving Nigeria’s road network is unwavering, to efficiently and effectively monitor and administer road maintenance is the mission of FERMA. FERMA, through its Lagos II West Field Office has reaffirmed their commitment to road maintenance and promised to extend the intervention to other failed sections of the Lagos-Badagry-Seme Border Dual Carriageway.

“Road users have already started to experience improved travel conditions, reduced traffic, and enhanced safety following the completion of the project. FERMA remains committed to maintaining critical road infrastructure across the country to ensure safer and more efficient roadways for all Nigerians.”
