Imo arson attack: Group expresses concern over misrepresentation of facts

By Chris Onuoha

The leadership of Biafra Republic Government In-Exile, (BRGIE) has expressed concern over the misrepresentation of BRGIE agitation and an alleged plan to settle displaced people and migrants in Imo State, also announcing a halt to further building projects in Igbo land.

Accordingly, the move is to protect lives and properties of biafrans in igbo land.

BRGIE disclosed this in a statement through its official X account condemning the labeling of the Biafra Liberation Army as gunmen and killers.

“Much as we identify with the feelings of Senator Frank Ibezim who formerly represented Okigwe North Senatorial Zone over his country home resident and NOUN study center at Nsu that was touched by arsonists, on Monday, BRGIE maintains that its mission to liberate Igbo people is sacrosanct, and thereby, stating that further erection of federal building to train refugees in Mbano should stop.”

The statement is in reaction to a recent viral video which alleged that the Imo state Government and the Federal  Government plan to settle refugees, Internally Displaced Persons, and Migrants at the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN Nsu, Ehime Mbano center.

The group stated that the development had created an uproar and discontent among indigenes of the Ehime Mbano, which the Imo State Government has denied, saying that its plan to build a refugee camp in Nsu is false.

However, the group made a pledge to protect the South-East region against terrorism, banditry and other elements of insecurity noting that lives of every Biafran remain sacrosanct to BRGIE.

It stated: “The Biafra forces are taking down every terrorist facility in our land for the security of our women and children. There is nothing like gunmen. BRGIE will not allow any refugee camp in our land. I implore you to report the truth and stop being sensational. We are in charge of the security in our land. And under our watchful eye, we will do everything to secure our territory.”
