Following the speech of President Bola Tinubu that Nigeria is on the path of progress in his independent day speech, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi has disclosed that Nigeria is yet to be independent until it tackles complete insecurity, especially ritual killings.

The monarch in a statement he made available to Vanguard, said unless the government liberate the land from ritual killings, the country is not fully independent.

According to him, the government must liberate the minds of Nigerians from ritual killings, an act that endangered the populace.

“As we celebrate Independence Day, I especially sympathize with the victims and families of ritual murders. The Rampancy of Ritual Killings is worrisome. We are not yet independent until Nigerians are free from the poverty of mind involving the killing of innocent souls for rituals.

“The blood in the land is hunting and hurting. The government is making efforts but the bloodsuckers are frustrating it. The government has to liberate the land by enacting a law that will checkmate ritual Killings.

“Until the needful is done, I can’t proudly say we are independent”.
