Manchester City player, Matheus Nunes has reportedly been apprehended after allegedly stealing the phone of a 58-year-old man.

Nunes was said to have stolen the phone in the bathroom of La Riviera nightclub in Madrid.

According to Spanish outlet, El Mundo, the Portuguese international was nabbed by the National Police on Sunday, September 8.

The incident occurred when the 26-year-old was on international duty, however, he wasn’t selected, hence he was with friends and was arrested around 5:30 a.m., with the police stating that the phone was with the footballer in his hotel room.

El Mundo disclosed that the former Wolverhampton Wanderers player collected the phone after the man attempted to capture him without his consent.

Similarly, eyewitnesses reported that the victim made physical contact with Matheus Nunes while holding the phone, sparking a misinterpretation that led to Nunes’ angry reaction.

Upon the arrest, he was held in custody for a short time until he was later granted bail, and now awaiting trial, though the trial date has not been fixed.

Nunes has made 3 Premier League appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side this season, 6 across all competitions, and has registered a goal.
