NOSDRA tops Nigeria’s 2024 transparency index

…Kaduna tops states; Abi in Cross River tops LGAs

The National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency, NOSDRA, has topped Nigeria’s Transparency Index for 2024 with Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, NIPC and Development Bank of Nigeria, DBN, emerging second and third respectively. DBN topped the ranking in 2023.

Nigeria’s Transparency and Integrity Index 2024 ranking released yesterday by the Bureau for Public Sector Reform and the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity rated 514 institutions across the three tiers of government.

The report ranked Nigerian Institute of Advance Legal Studies (4th), Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (5th), Bank of Industry (6th), Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (7th), Tertiary Education Trust Fund (8th), Central Bank of Nigeria (9th) and Nigeria Export-Import Bank (10th).

Other high-profile ranking includes NNPC Limited (18th), Nigerian Communication Commission (22nd), Nigerian Army (309th), Nigerian Police (337th) and Federal Ministry of Power (445th).

Amongst the states, Kaduna was rated top with Kano and Kogi ranked second and third. The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was ranked the lowest followed by Plateau and Taraba States.

At the local government level, Abi, Akamkpa and Akpabuyo all in Cross River state were the top three with Vandeikya, Ushongo and Tarka all in Benue state rate the least in the ranking.
