October 1: Stay calm, peaceful, Delta LG boss urges Ijaw Youths

By Chancel Bomadi Sunday

The Executive Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Area, Delta State, Hon. Rawlings Dagidi Andaye, has urged all residents, especially the youth in riverine communities, to maintain peace during and after Nigeria’s Independence Day celebrations on October 1.

Hon. Andaye made this appeal in light of the planned nationwide protests by aggrieved Nigerians over the country’s current economic challenges. He reassured the public that his administration is actively working to transform Bomadi into a modern urban center.

In a statement issued yesterday and made available to journalists, the council chairman expressed his commitment to making Bomadi a notable and progressive area within the Niger Delta. He emphasized that he would use his executive powers to “rewrite the narrative” of Bomadi, ensuring it becomes a place to be reckoned with.

The statement read: “In the spirit of freedom, peace, and development, I stand with the people of Bomadi Local Government Area and Nigerians at large as we celebrate our 64th anniversary, marking our independence and self-determination as a nation.

“As a government, we are committed to setting the stage for Bomadi to be recognized among local governments for its progress and development. We are determined to implement our blueprint for a better Bomadi and achieve it in full.”

Stay Calm, Stay Peaceful

Hon. Andaye further called on the youth of Bomadi and surrounding areas to maintain the peaceful environment that currently prevails. He praised them for heeding his earlier calls for calm during past protests, which had resulted in property destruction in other parts of the country.

“I want to take this opportunity to once again urge my fellow youths to maintain peace and serenity in Bomadi and its surrounding areas, even as protests and unrest may occur elsewhere.

“We have a future and a vision to achieve, and under my leadership, Bomadi will see progress and prosperity in the near future. Please, keep the peace in all our riverine communities. We will soon have reasons to smile and share our success stories as a government and as a people,” he concluded.
