Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has renamed the newly remodeled government house after former Minister of Defense, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (retired), in recognition of his significant contributions to the state’s creation and development.

Following approval from the state House of Assembly, the remodeled seat of government, located in Jalingo, the state capital, has been officially renamed “TY Danjuma House.”

At the renaming ceremony, Ibrahim Yaboro, the Permanent Secretary of the Government House, highlighted the honor as a mark of gratitude for Danjuma’s pivotal role in securing the creation of Taraba State.

Yaboro stated, “The people of Taraba State will forever remain grateful to General T.Y. Danjuma, GCON, the Abonta of Wukari, former Chief of Defence Staff, and Minister of Defence. He single-handedly pursued and obtained the approval of the top military leadership for the creation of Taraba State. No one deserves this recognition more for such an act of patriotism and love for his people.”

He further commended Danjuma’s broader impact as a statesman, philanthropist, and leader whose contributions to human capital development have reached far beyond the borders of Taraba State. “We cannot fully quantify your contributions to Taraba, Nigeria, and Africa. May God continue to grant you good health and wisdom as you positively impact lives through your foundation, regardless of tribe, religion, or ethnicity,” Yaboro added.

General Danjuma, visibly touched, expressed his appreciation to the state government for the honor. During the unveiling of the remodeled edifice, he urged the people of Taraba to collaborate with the governor in bringing about the desired transformation to the state.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Umar Damagun, former Minister of Information and National Orientation Jerry Gana, and former acting governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Garba Umar UTC, among others.
