What inspired you to start Teemoney Auto Sales & Services, and how did you navigate the challenges of entering the automobile industry in Canada and Nigeria?

I have always had a passion for the automobile business, which started in my childhood. Growing up in Olodi-Apapa, Lagos, there was a mechanic workshop directly across from my home where I would often spend time.

Additionally, the proximity of the port allowed me to accompany a friend who worked as a clearing agent, further fueling my interest in the industry. The automobile sector, regardless of location, presents its own challenges. In Canada, I faced issues like bureaucracy and funding limitations, particularly because we’re not established brands like Honda or Lexus.

How does your background in accounting contribute to your success as an entrepreneur in both the automobile and real estate industries?

From a young age, I had a keen interest in accounting and engaged in various business ventures. I even ran a gaming house, which was profitable at the time.

However, with the evolution of entertainment preferences, I learned to adapt. My background as an accounting graduate has shaped my understanding of productivity and the importance of numbers in business.

What strategies do you employ to ensure customer satisfaction in your businesses?

Listening attentively to our customers is paramount. They are the backbone of any industry, and we prioritize their feedback to enhance our services.

We follow up after every transaction to gauge their satisfaction and take action as needed to ensure that every customer is happy with our service.

Real estate is a significant part of your portfolio. What draws you to this industry?

Real estate is one of the oldest and most profitable commodities in the world. Although I am not a licensed realtor, my background as the son of a Lagos landlord exposed me to the lucrative nature of property ownership.

Co-owning properties with my wife has been an enriching experience, especially as we navigate the current real estate market, which is undergoing substantial price corrections. Both the automobile and real estate sectors are my passions; I don’t see them as burdens.

What personal values have shaped your approach to business?

I grew up with fundamental values instilled by my parents: treating people with respect, empathy, and making them feel good about our interactions. I believe in maintaining high standards of discipline and integrity.

Additionally, I hold a degree in Child & Youth Work, which drives my desire to support vulnerable members of our community.

How do you establish trust with clients, particularly in Nigeria?

In Nigeria, trust and honesty are crucial in building client relationships. It’s essential for clients to feel assured of your credibility before they engage in any transactions.

I was raised in a home where integrity was paramount; no amount of money is worth sacrificing one’s good name. Throughout my experiences, I’ve successfully engaged in multiple transactions across various economic backgrounds.

In Canada, I’ve also earned the trust of many clients, evidenced by a significant transaction where a client verified my credibility before proceeding. Their endorsement was truly gratifying.

What do you do to unwind and maintain a work-life balance?

I play for a local soccer team called DSA in Oshawa, participating in league games every Saturday. This serves as a great way to unwind.

Afterward, I enjoy watching soccer, particularly supporting my favorite team, Manchester United. I also indulge in online gaming on my PS5 with friends. Saturdays and parts of Sundays are reserved for relaxation, and I love watching the Toronto Raptors play as well.
