UGHELLI—THE ROTARY Club of Ughelli Metropolis has reiterated its determination to partner with government to develop its immediate community, even as it has earmarked the construction of a roundabout at the Afiesere/Iwhrekpokpo junction of the town at the cost of N2.5 million.

Making the disclosure shortly after her investiture as the President, Rotary Club of Ughelli Metropolis, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, Rotarian Tessy Uvieghara said the project, when completed, would help to regulate traffic at the junction and encourage safe driving.

She said the project would include the provision of road signs in the three directions of the projects and charged Rotarians to join hands together for better service for the benefit of mankind.

While pledging the loyalty of members in the provision of selfless services in Ughelli and its environs, Uvieghara maintained that their services shall be aimed at fighting illiteracy, polio eradication, drug abuse and development of youths.

She said Rotary International was an organization of business and professional persons worldwide who, according to her, provides humanitarian services and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

Earlier in his speech, President Rotary Club of Effurun, Rotarian Samson Asomugha, said the club had been involved in the construction of perimeter fence at Urhobo College, Effurun, as well as construction of a modern abattoir at Ugborikoko, initiation and funding of adult literacy school at Alegbo and the provision of polio plus immunization clinic.

Asomugha maintained that the reestablishment of Rotary club in Ughelli metropolis stemmed from the need to spread the humanitarian dream of the club to the area and urged members to collectively live up to their social responsibility.
